 In Announcements & Events

We are finally getting back into our routine here on the farm and have a couple of short announcements and important dates to note! First, we have changed banks and they have a strict policy requiring all checks be made payable to The Good Earth Day School, abbreviations or other names will not be accepted so please make note when making any payments via check.

The children are studying Sheep/Wool and Animals in Winter this month! Treehouse enjoyed building a beaver lodge and Saplings explored the wool felted balls and painted sheep this week among all the other daily rituals.

Parent Workday

Parent Workday, Saturday, January 14th, 10am to 2pm

We will post a list of projects on the front door next Monday! Feel free to sign-up for something specific or write your name on bottom to indicate participation without preference. We will again provide all tools and refreshments. We will be able to provide child care for a limited number of families so please email us to reserve space in advance of the workday. We will also have several projects that older children can participate in with parents. Just a reminder for those that missed the last workday and are unable to participate next weekend per the volunteer policy in our family handbook you will need to make a payment of $75 before the end of the month. This does not apply to those families not enrolled prior to our first workday.

Parent Society Meeting

We are looking forward to the first Good Earth Parent Society meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 24th at 7pm. Every parent is a member of the Parent Society and welcome to join us as we explore the role of this group in building our community. We are still in need of a couple parents to serve as classroom liasions, if interested please see Andrea for further information.

Doll Workshop

We are excited to announce our Waldorf Doll Workshop! Join us on Saturday, February 4th from 9am to 2pm in order to create a sweet cherub for your valentine. This workshop is open to the public but advance reservations are necessary. Children ages 5 and up are welcome to attend if joined by a supervising adult. Lunch will be provided. Details on the reservation fee will be coming soon but please email the school with interest so we can get an idea of how many may attend before ordering supplies. A rough estimate is $30-$40 depending on size of doll.

Volunteer Opportunities

We would like to take a moment to thank the Pancone family for volunteering to remove carpet over the break so that we could install and enjoy our nice new flooring.

Also, thank you to Carrie Mittra for volunteering to serve as a Nap Aide. The description of this position is included below again this month as we still need a couple more volunteers.

Ongoing Nap-Aides:

Volunteers are needed to oversee sleeping children once teachers have settled the classrooms and most children are napping. While children are napping volunteers would sit in each classroom while staff participated in onsite meetings, professional development or wellness classes. Parents with a child in attendance would not be assigned to their classroom. Parents whose children are not generally in attendance are welcome to drop-off their child by 1pm to nap in an alternate classroom or older children may participate in a quiet activity with another volunteer parent. Training and Background Check Required.

Estimated Time: 2 hrs (1:30-3:30pm), 2-3x a month, likely on Mondays
Volunteers Needed: 4-6

As always we appreciate your business and support!
The Good Earth Team
