 In Announcements & Events

November is upon us! It is at this point in the year we recognize families becoming very busy with travel and the holidays so we definitely try to slow things down a bit here on the farm and really enjoy our time.

LANTERN WALK
We are currently transitioning our unit of study from Pumpkins to Illumination which will conclude with our Lantern Walk on Friday, November 11th from 6:30-8pm. Families are invited to bring a picnic dinner and then participate with their child. The children are already working on their lanterns and learning a new verse to sing for the occasion.

THANKSGIVING CLOSURE
For the remainder of the month we will focus on Fire & Wind with a few days spent discussing Gratitude prior to our Thanksgiving Break closure November 23rd-25th. If your child will be absent additional days we appreciate your notice so that we may consider staff requests for any additional leave and schedule appropriately.

NEW MDO HOURS
Just a reminder for those beginning the new Mother’s Day Out program hours this week that children should arrive at 8:30am or shortly thereafter and that pick-up is promptly at 3:30pm. Children are resting from 1pm-3pm and then teachers need ample time to wake your child, freshen them up and prepare them for your arrival.

DRESSING FOR COLD WEATHER
We are in that foggy place where the morning chill feels bitter but we are sweating by lunchtime. We know how difficult it can be to predict the weather and dress your child appropriately but we do have a few suggestions below.

Additionally, during this time of year our lending basket is often lean so please ensure your child’s cubby is stocked with seasonally appropriate clothing. We are badly in need of pant donations in sizes 2T -5T for the lending basket if you have any to spare it is most appreciated.

  • Layering is essential this time of year! We suggest a short sleeve tee layered underneath a long sleeve shirt so that the first layer can be easily removed if it warms up.
  • A lightweight pant, sweats or jean is best on bottom. (Children in shorts were complaining of being cool this week).
  • If your child insists on wearing a dress or tunic please ensure they have full-length leggings or sweats underneath as opposed to tights.
  • A coat/jacket with a full zipper or buttons so that it can be easily taken on or off must be available on the child’s hook each day.
  • The coat/jacket must have an attached hood or an additional hat that covers the ears must be available on the child’s hook each school day. On very cold days mittens are also necessary.
  • An insulated/closed toe shoe with socks. (If you initial socks on the bottom with permanent marker they generally find their way home easier)
  • Fleece clothing is a great insulator but be forewarned that it also attracts and holds onto a lot of dirt/ mulch which can be bothersome to some children.
  • Please label all clothing items and accessories. (Those items not labeled may be labeled by the school with a permanent marker on the most visible inside location.)

GOODBYES

  • We would like to extend a heartfelt farewell to two of our dear students and their families! Our littlest Sapling Violet will be relocating out of state with her parents so that they may have the support of family as they prepare for the arrival of twins and our long-time friend Gage is relocating out of state as his father is working in a new position. If you see either of these families please wish them the best as they embark on their new journeys!
