 In Our Daily Rhythm

Our Treehouse friends have had fun putting their thoughts onto…concrete! (with sidewalk chalk). We are seeing amazing drawings on the back patio that we have not seen some of the same children produce on paper. Fun!

Being a “big cheese” in the Treehouse comes with responsibilities around school and the expectation that one will help nurture our younger friends. A new Treehouse friend loved helping a younger friend finish eating her breakfast yogurt. She even dabbed the corner of the little girl’s mouth with a cloth napkin!

Sand, stumps, painting. All have a place in our attempts to develop the whole child! Remember, there’s no glory in racing ahead to the end of childhood. Skip the digging, skip opportunities to be comfortable being messy and learning about volume. Skip the stumps, and your legs miss an opportunity to practice balancing or judging distance. Skip the painting, and miss an opportunity to develop fine motor control or to consider a color in its purest form.

Melissa’s extra laundry baskets have provided hours of imaginative fun!
