 In Our Daily Rhythm

We believe kids are bright, capable, and should be a part of the “life” of our school!

Around here, kids:

~compost
~recycle
~feed animals
~set the table
~help children who are younger and older than them
~garden
~scrape their plates, sort their dishes, and clean up their spots at meal time
~eat meals family-style, scooping their own food and generally their own beverage
~practice life skills such as pouring, scooping, tying, and folding
~learn to read their names and their friends’ names in a practical context–to find a hook, nap mat, water bottle, or cubbies
~squish, squirt, pour, make messes, get messy, and it’s OK
~wear boots!
~learn “academic skills” in due time, in a natural context
~build real things, like our labyrinth and stone path
~attend school in a cozy home that is purposefully low key and full of natural, open-ended materials
~are in constant contact with nature, including our magnificent big trees!
~are surrounded by loving, purposeful adults
