Christiane Michaelis, who has been teaching Music, Theatre, and German and French for the Kinder / First Grade Program, will be offering an after school theatre class this fall. She has over 10 years of experience teaching theatre, music, orchestra, piano, choir, German and French.

Theatre Thursdays 3:15 pm – 4:00 pm

Age: 3 – 7 years

Let’s play together! We will be monsters, pirates, robots and princesses, and play and invent our own stories. We will listen to stories and act them out. We will play with movement and explore what we can create with our bodies and voices. For children, it is very natural to be inventive and to use their imaginations in a colorful world of fantasies. The idea of make-believe play is deeply rooted in the Waldorf philosophy for this age.

This 45-minute class includes a variety of acting games, role-playing, improvisation, and creative drama. Children experience a playful way to be confident about their ideas and their bodies and to develop various ways of expressing themselves.

Pick-Up: In order to spare parents the waiting time while their kids are in theatre class, I will pick up the children from their classes at Farm School. The parent or guardian will then pick them up after class at 4:00 pm.

Price: $50/month for Farm School students; siblings get a 10% discount.

$55/month for students that are not enrolled in Farm School.

Class will start this fall as soon as at least 5 students are enrolled.

Please contact Christiane Michaelis at christiane.michaelis@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Testimonial:

“(…) I believe that my daughter’s imagination has been sparked by this class and she still enjoys performing and uses different voices for each character she embodies… This class is the perfect match of play and learning.”

– Debra Brown, mom
