Peachy and Aurora should have a great week--it's cat week! PreK painted the cats' house. Inside, the children enjoyed homemade pet kennels and using vet supplies for pet examinations. The children also painted kittens' mittens!
In recent weeks, we had to take a break from the blog, as there has been lots to do around the farm school and Sassy Pea Market. There have been unexpected challenges for us, but more than anything there has been so much unsolicited kindness, help, and an abundance of good wishes. Life does, indeed, hand out a lot of lemons. We're busy working on the lemonade! Thank you to our wonderful staff, our school families, and our own families at home for making this journey possible. Oh, and that Dio guy that shares articles each month? We think he might be saving our lives. More on that later!Love,...
It's frog week! Today everyone enjoyed seeing a frog in a house Sarah constructed! The frog even had a mailbox and mail! Everyone at school enjoyed wet on wet watercolor painting with green. The toddlers/two class played with dry rice and pasta. The older PreK children enjoyed a Lakota Indian tale about friendship and loyalty. As part of the tale, children donned eagle costumes. We had a good day!
Everyone had a good time dancing this week, making a special craft for our moms (footprint bags), and exploring the farm. We had email difficulties and blogger difficulties, but we think we're back in action! Next week we will be studying turtles!Happy Mother's Day to all of our moms! Limbo!
Bug week continues! Thursdays are for crafting! It was a very windy day at the farm. The Twos class enjoyed lunch outside--making for a peaceful meal.Bug week cards . . . Our PreK classes have names now: "The Dolphins", "The Peacocks", and "The Ponies". Each class does a rotation through activities outside each morning. The have a class flag and a sign on their water bottle box!The Two class loved chili soup for lunch and fresh baked bread! Bug week continues! The PreK children had a good day rotating through outside gardening work, time with the rabbits, and reading books about insects. PreK is divided into 3 groups: the Dolphins, the Ponies, and the Peacocks. They are having fun--especially with some crafty bug rings! The 2s and toddlers loved black beans and cheese quesadillas. We enjoyed reading our friend Francis' shirt, which quotes Daniel Boone.
Happy Earth Day! We enjoyed a drizzly day outside as part of "rain" week! We had a good time with a new friend Ella, who will start with us in May. Kari and her class had fun creating an alphabet board with sticks, and the children had fun making mud cakes for Mother Earth!Each day, the children scrape their plates after lunch for our pig Lucy. They scrape the plates, then gently place their "glass" dish in another bus tub. The children then help wipe the tables and sweep the floor. "Life" is at the heart of our curriculum!
