Experiences following all areas of child development
Curriculum Philosophy
Our days on the farm are designed to create a balance between free, creative play and more structured activities. Nature inspires our curriculum to focuses on themes that mimic the changing of seasons. Our curriculum will feature ample experiences in the following areas of development, all of which will prepare each child for public, private kindergarten, or homeschooling.
Creative Arts
Coloring with natural beeswax crayons, modeling beeswax, watercolor painting, drawing, seasonal crafts, music, story-telling and puppetry.
Domestic Arts
Cooking, cleaning, sewing, woodworking, repairing, gardening and caring for animals.
Social Arts
Empathy, kindness, sharing, leadership, conflict resolution and love.
Nurturing Arts
Natural foods, hair brushing/combing with lavender spray, hand/face washing, meals with flannel cloth napkins, daily outdoor time and rest.
Sensory Experiences
In addition to the classrooms full of materials to support a child’s imaginative side, you will find many kits or trays of materials that a child may choose to experience. These activities develop fine motor skills, reasoning, math skills, and pre-reading skills.
Our Rhythm
The rhythm of our day is inspired by Waldorf education including: outdoor activities such as farm chores, community & snack time, indoor activities and lunch and time for unstructured play. We work very hard to preserve the innocence of childhood and to develop rich creative play in our classrooms. Our nature based curriculum focuses on a variety of themes that change with the months and seasons.
Mixed-Age Environment
Children are grouped by age but our program provides many opportunities for mixed-age partnering throughout the day.
