 In Our Daily Rhythm

School Announcements:
We wanted to announce that Mr. Jamie’s last day will be this Thursday. He will begin work soon at Cedars Montessori in SW Austin. He will be doing similar work, but with older children. We wish him only the best. What a blessing he has been to our school! We hope he has time to visit, and know Cedars will love him as much as we have.

PreK will enjoy a friendship tea on Thursday afternoon at snack time. We hope to have beautiful decorations in the tree on the play yard as part of our celebration. We will be working on them this week with Siler’s mom and in class. If you would like to make a valentine for friends, names for both classes are as follows: (no candy, please)

Ashley, Asa, Austin, Caeden, Cameron, Catherine, Cole, Colton, Cooper, Iris, Isaac, Jonie, Landon, Leilani, Liam, Keith, Matt, Miles, Nina, Noah, Saxon, Siler, Soleil, Spencer, Wacy

After school friends: Olivia, Amber, Ashley

Highlights from the Infant Room: The children enjoyed listening to classical music; Gage has mastered tummy time and his holding his head high, Ali is rolling to the side and kicking her legs and feet–her version of pilates and Emma Grace is looking around, smiling and laughing out loud.

Ms. Caprice is looking forward to playing a few tunes on the electric guitar for the children this afternoon.

Highlights from the Toddler Room: The toddlers enjoyed several books including Duckling’s Bathtime, Goodnight Moon, Colors, Book of Bedtimes and Brown Bear, Brown Bear. The children had fun moving bean bags from one container to another repeatedly and loved their time spent finger painting with the color yellow!

Highlights from the Twos Room: We had a busy morning inside today! We didn’t make it out due to the rain. We sang “The Wheels on the Bus” and “If You’re Happy and You Know It” among other favorites. We put out our own nap mats and blankets, and we’re also learning to clean up our toys and find our shoes in the shoe box. The children love to make animals sounds and work on puzzles. We are excited to get outside this afternoon!

Highlights from the PreK: This morning, after a nice snack, we headed outdoors on a “farm walk”. Peachy and Aurora didn’t notice we left the play yard, but soon caught up to us to our delight! We found lots of golf balls in the field. We think that Mr. Denny, who used to live here, liked to practice his shots by hitting balls into the fields. We’ve had fun finding so many of them. At circle time, we heard this week’s story, “Hop ‘O My Thumb” about a tiny, brave boy who helps his family, even when his six brothers are too scared to confront a giant or walk through the forest. We also talked about mountain letters and worked with some that are made of sand paper. As we trace the sand paper letter, we make its shape a permanent memory in our body. Our work inside today included wet on wet watercolor painting and some gross motor work with Mr. Jamie. Matt showed off his ability to do a hand stand against the wall–he has started a trend!
