What’s going around?
We have noticed several children have chigger bites. For those unfamiliar the bites are red and raised similar to mosquito bites but are commonly in the folds of the skin such as groin, armpits, ankles or the backs of knees.  The bites can be quite itchy and take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks to clear completely.  Contrary to popular belief, chiggers do not actually burrow into the skin and so the popular remedy of applying clear nail polish will not provide relief.  The best remedy is any anti-itch cream or gel that contains aloe, calendula or even vegetable oil with a few drops of lavender essential oil is said to provide relief from itching.

Morning with Moms Celebration
We would like to invite all Moms to join us for morning snack on Monday, May 14th! You are welcome to attend and bring your child even if they do not normally attend on Mondays.  Snack will be served at 9:30am.

Parent Conferences
Our parent-teacher conferences will run May 21st-the 31st. Available times and a sign-up sheet will be posted beginning next week.  We set aside 20 minutes to review your child’s development and answer questions.  Should you have any specific concerns or feel you need a more extensive conference please see Andrea for scheduling.  As always we recommend that if you have any concerns you bring them up as they arise. You may request a conference at anytime throughout the year.

Parent Society
We appreciate all the parents that came out for our last Parent Society Meeting! We will meet again this month on Tuesday, May 22nd at 7pm.  All parents are members of our Parent Society and invited to attend.

Save the Date!- Bridging Ceremony, June 2nd
We invite all families to join us for a potluck on the evening of Saturday, June 2nd from 6-8pm.  Our rising Kindergarteners embarking on new adventures this next fall and thus leaving the Treehouse will participate in a Bridging Ceremony.  The school will provide homemade pizzas but you must RSVP via the roster near sign-up sheets please so that we can plan accordingly.  We ask you to complement our meal with an appetizer, salad or sweet.

Reminder:
Our “Summer Hours” take effect on Monday, June 13th! Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:45 pm

Our program hours for MDO (Mother’s Day Out) will remain the same, 8:30 am-3:30 pm.

Are you Lost in the Kitchen?
Cooking isnt just following a recipe! It is a process that involves preparation, technique and an understanding of the foods we eat.  We are pleased to announce fellow parent, Dio Miranda of Diofitness, Inc is bringing Professional Chef Luis Rosado to the Good Earth Kitchen.   Together they will share a basic but unique way of preparing food and assist you in understanding the proper way to finish a meal.  During this 2-day event you will practice different cooking methods and learn how to maximize your product and time.  The goal is to simply have you feel more comfortable and confident so that  the food you make at home will be a better and more joyful product.  Come with your questions and leave with answers and a full belly of the food prepared during our time together.

Friday, June 15th- 6:30-8pm
Saturday, June 16th- 11:30-1pm
Registration: $50 pp, including food

Register via Dio Miranda at (512) 820-9112 or dio@diofitness.com
